    The Committee on Health and Human Resources moves to amend the bill on page 2, section 1, subsection (b), line 10, by removing the sentence:

     “The chief medical officer of the mental health family, upon discharge of an individual diagnosed with schizophrenic reality disorder, shall offer the patient an opportunity at the appropriate time, when the patient is stable and on medication and is considered by the chief medical officer to be competent, assistance in identifying and designating an appropriate person to serve as durable medical power of attorney for the patient.”;

and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

     “An employee of the mental health facility, upon discharge of a patient shall offer the patient, when stable and is considered by the chief medical officer or attending physician to be competent, assistance in identifying and designating an appropriate person to serve as durable medical power of attorney for the patient.”
